Stella Meghie is a Canadian film director and screenwriter. She
directed the feature films Jean of the Joneses (2016), Everything,
Everything (2017), The Weekend (2018), and The Photograph (2020).
Meghie is also set to direct the Whitney Houston biopic, I Wanna Dance
With Somebody (2022).Originally from Toronto, Ontario, Meghie worked
as a public relations agent in the fashion industry in New York City
prior to returning to school to get a degree in screenwriting. Her
feature film debut, Jean of the Joneses, premiered at the SXSW Film
Festival in 2016. The film received a nomination for Best First
Screenplay at the Independent Spirit Awards two Canadian Screen Award
nominations at the 5th Canadian Screen Awards in 2017, including a nod
for Meghie in the Best Original Screenplay category.She directed the
romance film Everything, Everything (2017), an adaptation of the New
York Times best selling novel Everything, Everything, starring Amandla
Stenberg and Nick Robinson.In 2018 Meghie's film The Weekend premiered
at the 2018 Toronto International Film Festival.
