Mat Hames (born July 27, 1971) is an American independent filmmaker
known for his Independent Lens documentaries When I Rise, What Was
Ours, and his film about Belgian Resistance escape lines in World War
II Last Best Hope, Robert Redford produced Fighting Goliath and for
the Rooster Teeth RTDocs Series including Common Ground, Waiting for
the Punchline, Why We're Here: 15 Years of Rooster Teeth, Haus of
Pain, Becoming Jessica Nigri, The Meme Machine, World's Greatest Head
Massage, The Tattooist, and Connected. His films have been part of the
Emmy-Winning U.S. PBS series Independent Lens, SundanceTV, and Amazon
Prime. He is a founder of Austin documentary production company
Alpheus Media. In addition to productions for PBS, ITVS, Vision Maker,
Amazon, SundanceTV, and Rooster Teeth, Alpheus Media, Inc. has created
films for museums, non-profits, healthcare organizations, Global NGOs,
and social cause clients. A portion of their interviews with more than
250 cancer survivors appear on the Livestrong web site, and in a best
