Nicola Mary Coughlan (born 9 January 1987)[citation needed] is an
Irish actress. She is best known for her role as Clare Devlin in Derry
Girls, a Channel 4 sitcom.Coughlan was born in Galway, Ireland. She
trained at both The Oxford School of Drama and Birmingham School of
Acting. She holds a degree in English and Classical Civilisation from
the National University of Ireland, Galway. She lives in London.In
2018, Coughlan began playing Clare Devlin in Derry Girls. In the same
year she also played Hannah Dalton in Harlots. 2018 also marked her
West End debut in The Donmar Warehouse's production of The Prime of
Miss Jean Brodie. Evening Standard named Nicola as "one of the Rising
Stars of 2018". In 2019 it was announced that Nicola had been cast in
Shondaland series Bridgerton, which will debut on Netflix in 2020,
marking Shonda Rhimes' first production with the online streamer.
