American actress, best known for her roles as Katherine Plumber in
Newsies () and Glinda in Wicked (, , , ).Massey was born in Rochester,
New York and attended Greece Athena High School, studying under
acclaimed director and teacher Judith Ranaletta, before studying at
Carnegie Mellon University, where she received a BFA in acting/musical
theatre.In , Massey appeared as Laura in a musical-theatre production
at the Paper Mill Playhouse of Little House on the Prairie with
Melissa Gilbert as Ma. Massey originated the role of Katherine Plumber
in Newsies, a Disney musical written for the stage by Harvey
Fierstein. The character was the fictional love interest of
protagonist Jack Kelly, but Massey said she drew inspiration from the
real-life investigative journalist, Nellie Bly.Massey continued her
role when Newsies moved to Broadway and played her final performance
in the show on February , . From April to November , , Massey played
the role of Glinda in the nd North American Tour of Wicked. She
assumed the role of Glinda on Broadway on December , until January ,
when she was replaced by Carrie St. Louis, who had previously replaced
