Mark David Duplass (born December 7, 1976) is an American filmmaker,
actor, writer, and musician. He is the brother of filmmaker Jay
Duplass, and together the brothers started the film production company
Duplass Brothers Productions in 1996, and have written and directed
the films The Puffy Chair (2005), Baghead (2008), Cyrus (2010), Jeff,
Who Lives at Home (2011), and The Do-Deca-Pentathlon (2012). Duplass
played the role of Pete Eckhart in the FX television series The League
(2009â€"2015).Duplass co-wrote the horror film Creep (2014) and its
2017 sequel, and starred in both films as Josef. He co-wrote and
co-produced the television anthology series Room 104 (2017â€"present).
Duplass has also appeared in Humpday (2009), The Mindy Project
(2012â€"2014), Tammy (2014), The One I Love (2014) The Lazarus Effect
(2015), Togetherness (2015â€"2016), Goliath (2018â€"2019), Paddleton
(2019), and The Morning Show (2019â€"present). For The Morning Show,
he received a nomination for the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding
Supporting Actor in a Drama Series in 2020.In addition to filmmaking
and acting, Duplass was also the singer and keyboardist of Volcano,
I'm Still Excited!!, an indie rock band signed to Polyvinyl Record
Co.Duplass was born in New Orleans, Louisiana, to Cynthia (née Ernst)
and Lawrence Duplass. He was raised as a Roman Catholic, and attended
Jesuit High School, University of Texas at Austin, and City University
of New York-City College. Duplass is of part Cajun ancestry.
