Celebrity photos have been popular especially during the World War II, when GIs pin up on barrack walls pictures of female movie stars wearing either one-piece swimsuits or low-cut evening gowns. According to historians, the fascination of Americans with celebrity photos started with the illustration "Gibson Girl" that landed on the pages of a magazine in 1887.
